Raúl Castro se despidió este viernes del cargo de Primer Secretario del Partido Comunista de Cuba con una propuesta al Gobierno de los Estados Unidos: establecer un “diálogo respetuoso”.
“Ratifico desde este congreso del Partido la voluntad de desarrollar un diálogo respetuoso y edificar un nuevo tipo de relación con los Estados Unidos”, sin renunciar “a los principios de la revolución y el socialismo”, dijo el octogenario General en el primer día del octavo Congreso del PCC.
Raúl, quien fue coautor del histórico deshielo en el 2014 entre los dos país, junto al entonces presidente Barack Obama, vio como se desmantelaba todo lo logrado entre ambas naciones tras la llegada de Donald Trump a la Casa Blanca.
Las palabras del hasta ahora líder del PCC, de 89 años, fueron divulgadas por la emisora estatal Radio Reloj, ya que el cónclave se celebra a puerta cerrada y marcado por un fuerte hermetismo, sin acceso a prensa extranjera y sin transmisión televisiva en directo.
“Creo fervientemente en la fuerza y el valor del ejemplo y en la comprensión de mis compatriotas”, añadió.
La salida de Castro marca también la jubilación de otros miembros del partido que fueron parte de los históricos combatientes que ganaron la revolución en 1959, y que han permanecido hasta ahora en la dirección del PCC. Su salida debe producirse en este congreso, que dará paso a una nueva generación encabezada por el presidente Miguel Díaz-Canel, de 60 años.
